Description

Prevent Child Abuse NJ, the statewide leader in child abuse prevention programming, is dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in all of its forms, resulting in a happy and healthy childhood for all children. Based in New Brunswick, we have an immediate opening for a part-time Program Specialist who will provide training, technical assistance, and site development for the school sites utilizing the E.P.I.C. curriculum of parent involvement. Anticipated outcomes include positively changing parent attitudes and behavior resulting in an increase of parent participation in their child's education, increasing children's school readiness and school success, reduction in child abuse and neglect, and an improved understanding and involvement by persons in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.


Requirements

A Masters degree in a social service field, combined with at least one year related work experience or a Bachelor’s in a social service field with a minimum of three years related work experience is required. Related work experience is defined as a professional role such as direct service work with children and families, or training, quality assurance and evaluation of programs. Knowledge of group dynamics is required. Skills and knowledge required include: excellence in written and oral communications, presentations, public speaking, training, and group dynamics, expertise in program planning, development and implementation, expertise in community organization and collaboration building, awareness of cultural diversity and its impact on planning and provision of services, ability to integrate leaders from various organizations to collaborate for a common goal, strong ability to problem-solve, ability to use technology to support instruction (intermediate skill in Excel, Word and PowerPoint), and organization, self-motivation and flexibility.

Candidate must possess a strong desire to learn and a commitment to professional development in all of the above areas. Hours may need to be flexible to allow for evening and weekend work, in training, site visits or related activities. Must have valid driver’s license and access to a car on a daily basis for travel throughout NJ.

Bilingual Spanish preferred.
